I am Rahul Thakur, also known as Ricky Mountaineer, born in a small village in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by the majestic Himalayas, the mountains were always a part of my world—but it wasn’t until I was 19 that I truly began my journey into the outdoors, exploring trails, rivers, and peaks with curiosity and determination.
In 2019, I took the step to turn my passion into a profession, embarking on a life dedicated to mountaineering. Since then, I have completed Basic and Advanced Mountaineering Courses, Search and Rescue Training, and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification, building the skills necessary to challenge the highest peaks safely.
Over the years, the mountains have tested me, taught me patience, resilience, and the value of teamwork. I have climbed more than 30 peaks over 6000 meters and 2 peaks above 7000 meters, each expedition pushing my limits and deepening my respect for nature. Beyond personal summits, I have led over 200 treks and expeditions, sharing the thrill of adventure with others and helping them discover the same joy and freedom I feel in the mountains.
Mountaineering for me is more than a profession—it is a way of life, a constant journey of growth, challenge, and discovery. Every peak I climb reminds me of where I started, and why the mountains will always be home.
